The city’s best-kept secret with hotel l'affaire
As a solo traveler for the first time, it is no surprise I experienced anxiety when booking a hotel online for my travel itinerary to the nation’s capital since it can be hit-and-miss. Fortunately, Hotel L’ affaire turned out to be a hit. It was everything that it promised to be and more.
Nestled at the corner of a hustling street in Karol Bagh, a popular neighborhood for shopping in the capital, I found Hotel LAffaire. I felt at ease as I got out of my cab and looked at the hotel. When I got closer to the hotel, the staff was already expecting me and graciously welcomed me to the reception. While waiting for the check-in formalities, I quickly looked at the hotel’s reception area. They say lobbies make the first impression of the hotel. The foyer was grand yet comfortable, and beautifully designed, and one could look at the bustling, hustling street of Karol Bagh through the windows. Later, a respectful and helpful staff accompanied me to my premium room (which I had chosen at the time of booking).
A rush of butterflies ran up my spine as he unlocked the door to my room; thankfully, it was exactly as depicted in the pictures. The room was clean, spacious, and warm. As I opened the curtains, sunlight pierced right through my face into my room through the window glass, and instantly a smile gushed through my face. At this moment, I knew my trip to Delhi would forever remain etched in my heart. Modern design with soothing colors and textures and a comfortable-looking bed resonated with me on the very first look at the room.
A dirty room and washroom are a deal-breaker for me and many of us. Gladly, Hotel L' affaire didn’t disappoint me at all. After resting and taking a shower, I went to the breakfast buffet. The spread had many options from which one could choose based on their food preference. I found a quiet corner and enjoyed my morning coffee, followed by a sumptuous breakfast.
Location played a significant role in selecting this hotel as it is centrally located and offers easy and quick access to the city’s tourist attractions, shopping malls, and popular cultural spots. Everything from the Red Fort to India Gate to Qutub Minar was under 15-20 minutes depending on the time of the day from the hotel. It helped me save a lot of time and money on travel within the city. I found easy and quick access to a rickshaw, which navigated me from one place to another in a jiffy. Rickshaw drivers’ stories about how they got to the nation’s capital kept me entertained. Their knowledge of the tourist spots helped immensely, and I was able to cover many tourist spots and tick most of them off my must-see list.
As the evening approached, I would head back to the hotel. Instead of opting for room service, I eagerly looked forward to visiting the restaurant. And boy, it was state-of-the-art! The decor was modern, yellow lights added a touch of mystique, and the design was unparalleled. To top it off, friendly and affectionate staff always greeted and welcomed me. Again, I consistently chose the same corner and glanced through the menu. It had all the delicacies of North India. The obvious choice was to go with the most talked-about delicacies. I ordered handsomely from the choice of parathas, dal makhana, kebabs, and the like. They had all of it on their menu and a lot more. The food was indeed delicious, in reasonable quantities, and not too heavy on the stomach (North Indian food can be notoriously heavy at times if not prepared correctly).
As a solo female traveler, safety was my top priority. Hotel L' affaire did not give me any reason to feel unsafe. The hotel staff is well-mannered, utterly respectful, and courteous in their dealings with the guests. Whenever I requested something, they always addressed it professionally, and I never had to follow up on anything, be it laundry, sheets, or towels. Back to the room, good WIFI connectivity was the cherry on the cake:)
My 3-day trip went by in a blink of an eye, a truly memorable, delightful time in the city. Happy I found a Hotel l'affaire that fits seamlessly into my travel memoirs.
No wonder it’s the city’s best-kept secret!
